The Under 20s against the Over 35s with more fake IDs than there were among the queue at Toppers in 1999, the year of the first Colts-Vets encounter. The Vets squad selection included 15 players who had won the Lancashire Cup at various levels. Most prominent is Graham "Crack" Riley who picked up the trophy in 1976 as part of his seven decade career playing at the Wids. In tribute to his retirement, the starting back line consisted of Rileys and Whitfields. Current club captain Tom O'Neill lied about his age purely to shake the hand of his illustrious predecessor and then entertained the large crowd with a ceremonial Diana Ross kick-off.
