2021 sees Halton become Borough of Culture. On their website, the council has been asking about local sporting heroes. Michael Austin of Rugby World has taken the matter out of our hands. Back in October, Darryl Harper wondered how many opponents the Wids had played against since becoming Widnes RUFC in 1959. The current total is 407 different clubs in eight countries (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands). Two teams have visited from USA and Canada. The Georgia national side used Heath Road as a training base for the 2016 U20s World Cup. In the video, Martin Griffiths and Sam Cook look back at these and their own travels.
