To some degree it’s hard to describe the game today, Fylde was well up for it and as is our usual way, we gave up field position for the home side to score but the Wids was well into it the game, some pressure built going forwards but we couldn’t quite make it count until Dan Salter put some pressure on the Fylde attack, stealing the ball and going in from long range to take it 7-5 and it looking like a good contest.
Unfortunately despite a great effort in defence we wasn't clever enough enough in possession of the ball and handed it over too easily. Fylde running in another 3 converted tries before half time to take the score to 28 - 5
Half time chat was about maintaining possession in attack and step up the defensive effort.
Sadly, we didn’t do this in the second half with Fylde scoring 5 times, converting 4 to take the final score to 61 - 5.
The home side was obviously the better team on the day, as the scoreline shows and take nothing away from them but despite some individual hard work from many of the Wids we was found wanting and wasn’t at our best.
We as a group need to start leaning the lessons we are given, which there is another opportunity to do so next weekend when we travel to Anselmians.
