Sadly the 2s couldn’t match the 1s with a win at Broughton Park today, however we gave it a good shot with loads of effort.

BP opened the scoring up but the wids soon responded with a typical solid run by Rio Hamlet, Alex Kermode stepping up to kicking duties, yes the same Alex K who is team Co-Captain and flanker!

BP then ran in three tries to go into half time with a score of 26-7, this wasn’t as one sided as it suggests though and BP had to work for their points.

Half time talk was all about enjoying the last game, hard work and effort which is typical of the team this year.

Wids opened up the second half scoring, a very hard working forward pack effort got us close, then No9 Jack Martindale darted over. Sadly not converted 26 - 12

BP the managed to run over three converted tries before the ever reliable Pav Makles got over and Alex Kermode converting 47 - 19 and in all honesty the game gone in terms of result but the Wids kept on at BP who managed another score 54-19 but the Wids was not done, after some good field position, Pav M got his second, sadly not converted but after angling his run away from the sticks, it was a difficult kick for flanker Alex K.

Final score 54-24 and whilst a heavy defeat, the team should be proud for the effort shown throughout, scoring some good points and grafting hard for each other.

This game concludes the 2025/26 season for the 2nd XV, currently 4th in the league so will have to see how a couple f of games go in the coming weeks to see if we stay 4th or go to 5th.
