Leigh, who suffered relegation from North One West last term - as Widnes had done the previous season - currently sit in seventh place in the table, just two places and two points ahead of their hosts this weekend.
Recent results have produced an even spread between the pair. In 2015-16 Leigh completed the double over their arch rivals, whilst during the previous season, Widnes returned the compliment with a narrow one point victory at Hand Lane, before running out easy winners in the return game.
So, with little or nothing between the two teams on the league ladder and a similar playing record thus far, the scene could well be set for another close and thrilling encounter.
The game kicks off at 3.00pm
