We have just received news of the death of one of Widnes RUFC's regular visitors from the 1960s onwards. Pictured here with Paul Woodward in 2024/25, he became a very familiar face at Heath Road in recent years, coaching and assessing young Liverpool Society referees. One tangible feature which he partly introduced and recommended is the use of the VEO camera, now a fixture at all first team games. There are many volumes which have already been written about Fred and many more to come. Our condolences to his family.
