Wids Heritage Hikers head down the trail from the Snig to the Ferry

Twelve middle-aged past players showed that Wids Culture 26 commitment wasn’t just for the club’s Baby Boomers on Saturday. Representing Generations X and Y, with three former Club Captains and one Vice President in their midst, the dynamic dozen strode along the Trans Pennine Trail between the River Mersey and the Sankey Canal from Widnes to Penketh and beyond.
Club Chairman Ged Snee applauded their involvement, saying it that it emphasises the Wids’ support for Halton’s year as Borough of Culture. As a long term resident of Runcorn, Ged is particularly looking forward to the two walks planned on the Mercia side of the bridges. “We are still watching out for Vikings” he laughed.
