With the 100th anniversary of the Wids' first match less than two months away, this little challenge reared its head this week. Having looked at the limited history of the pre-Heath Road years, I have only come up with six names so far - 1924 WH Morrison, 1945 Dave Hoyle, 1949 Tom Smith, 1953 George Williams, 1956 Alan Whitby and 1958 Roy Stockley.
Any others would be greatly appreciated. I think Abby Hunt might be one but am not sure.
We have a decent collection of photos with no names attached so, based on the captain being the man holding the ball, have printed this one from 1937-38. Can anyone recognise this fellow? If so, let me know and I'll report back.
