Widnes Rugby Union Club have received a further boost ahead of the new 2025/26 season, with the announcement that they have extended their sponsorship deal with merseyflow for a further twelve months.

For the seventh year in a row, the funding will help contribute towards the day-to-day running of the club, which relies on self-generated income to provide access to sports for players of all levels in Halton.

Neil Conway, Chief Executive of merseyflow, said: “We are pleased to offer our support to clubs in Widnes and Runcorn, like the Wids, that play such a significant role in the health and wellbeing of the local community. We are looking forward to the upcoming season and wish them the best of luck.”

In response, Widnes RUFC Club President Derek Dyer said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to merseyflow for extending its sponsorship deal. Every penny that they donate, along with the income of our other sponsors, is being used to keep the club running.

“As a Community Rugby Club, we rely very much on the support and generosity of local businesses, and we are absolutely thrilled to have them on board once again”.
