The first games of the Wids Centenary on Prescot Road added two names to the club's roster of opponents. Garstang Blues played the Seconds, Liverpool Meds played the Thirds, becoming numbers 425 and 426 in the list of teams that Widnes RUFC have encountered. In Halton Council's 50th year, the Heath Road side remains unchallenged as the borough's furthest reaching sports club on the field of play. Unfortunately, it is likely to remain unchallenged as others fall by the wayside to developers and neglect. As a demonstration of the importance of sport as our town's true heritage, we are encouraging people to join us on a 6 mile centenary circuit (walk or run) around Widnes's important recreational locations on St Patrick's Day Sunday 17th March at 11 am. Please join us. We will be supporting the charity Papyrus who have emphasised the health and well-being value of sports participation in general and the Wids in particular. The route can be found on the Widnes RUFC website, Facebook and YouTube.
