Firstly apologies for the lateness of this report. Its been a long week with non rugby work, sadly!
So our U13s kicked off the new seasons Lancashire campaign against Leigh, first half was played almost entirely in the Leigh half, the Wids where dominant throughout the half and scored two unanswered tries from Charlie Cross and Zak Mannion.
At half time, Leigh received reinforcements which changed the game and the Wids dominance faltered whilst Leigh managed to score a couple of tries before Zak Mannion scored again before Leigh scored against the play to equalize. Ben Heston had a try disallowed for being in touch and the game finished a draw.
We have always had tough games against Leigh, this was no exception but it was a very enjoyable game to be involved with and we are very proud of our boys who gave their all and played very well as a team, great to see so many supporters out for both teams, there wast much space along the length of the pitch at all.
Our award winners, announced at training in the week was
Creative Attacker - Charlie Cross who was explosive at 9
Defensive Warrior - Bobby Navin, never took a backward step throughout the morning
Relentless Athlete - Alfie Horabin, hitting every ruck he could get to, was awesome to see!
Best Team mate - Max Barnes, supported the lads in the best way possible
We now look forward to Preston Grasshoppers coming down on Sunday 29th September
