President John Loughnane would like to remind you that the Heath Rd Diamond Jubilee & Trophy Treble Celebration takes place on Sunday 8th Sept.

To celebrate, we are holding a buffet at just £6 per head with a complimentary copy of the book thrown in!

We'll have both display rooms open and videos showing on three screens.

Tickets available from the President, John Loughnane, or any Committee member.

A slight amendment to the running order for the Diamond Jubilee/ Triple Trophy Celebration tomorrow: the Colts game against Bowdon will kick off at 2.30 pm to accommodate the referee’s assessor. Consequently, the buffet start has been brought forward to 2pm. As it’s a cold buffet, this shouldn’t cause any problem and may work to the advantage of the Colts’ Spectators.
We did a dummy run on Thursday evening to rapturous approval from four dominoes players and can reasonably say that this is what you can expect –
In the Concert Room from 1pm, we’ll be showing “Gone With The Wids” on the big screen on a loop for the rest of the afternoon (it lasts 1hr 53m). Assuming that’s a success, we’ll be using the screen (without sound) for all pre-match buffets this season. If it’s a failure, we’ll try again.
We’re more confident in Wildey and Tom Mac’s three screen set-up in the lounge. From 12.30, we’ll be showing the photo montage compiled to accompany the original 50 year CD. It’s been on the website for a while but a lot of people are unaware of its existence. John Parle recommends it and he’s not easily pleased. That lasts 1hr 6m.
Then it’s the big one – STE CLARK’S PICTORIAL REVIEW OF 2018-19 on the three screens. 1hr 30min worth of action pictures to relive our treble-winning 60th season, accompanied by a musical soundtrack ranging from Aerosmith and the Beatles to the Yardbirds and ZZ Top.
On top of this, there’s much more available on the video jukebox: tour footage, Mad Wasps memories, Junior Lancashire Cup wins, Colts sevens etc etc. Not quite something for everyone but enough for anyone.
The mainstay of the day is the book launch – the final volume in our history trilogy and accompaniment to the 60 year documentary. If you’ve played first team rugby, won club man of the year, taken part in Team Talk Wednesdays or been photographed in a recent 1st, 2nd or 3rd team pic, there’s a good chance that you’ll be in this 156 page full colour volume.
See you at Heath Road – 60 years from its official opening. Nico has some beer deals on.
