Whilst Widnes will once again reprising their role in the ADM Premier Division, the Melbourne Avenue outfit will be making their first outing in what is now an expanded 12 team competition after previously plying their trade in the North Lancashire/Cumbria/Cheshire set up.

A cursory glance back at recent games between the pair show that they last met in league rugby back in 2012/13 when the ‘red-and-blacks’ secured the double over their rivals. Previous to that, in 2011, Widnes also got the better of their opponents in the play-off game to earn themselves promotion into North One West.

But, that was then, and this is now, and both sides will be anxious to get themselves off to the very best of starts and make the early running.

For obvious reasons, as the reigning Champions, Widnes will be looking to set down an early marker in their quest to make it back-to-back titles. Fleetwood, on the other hand, will be aiming for a positive result in their first game in the new competition.

Elsewhere, in the other senior fixtures; the Seconds are also at home to Altrincham Kersal in Division 2 South.

Both games kick off at 3.00pm.
