Mixed weather and a boggy pitch welcomed the 2nds to Garstang for a league clash that pitched third against sixth in Division 2 North.
Widnes got off to good start, with solid scrum and lineout ball from the forwards providing the backs with good ball from which to attack.
Following some good interplay Rio Hamlett got himself over for try, with Bobby Finch adding the extras.
More solid play, and good discipline helped the Wids gain some good territory and Alfie Rourke burst through to score, with Finch again converting.
Almost straight from the restart, Aaron Duggan burst through a gap and raced 50 metres to score. The score now was 17 - 0 to the visitors.
An enforced change meant the introduction of Mike Rendle into the second row, and he scored with his first touch after a great break from Luke Alderson.
With half time approaching, Widnes made another visit into Garstang 22, and Rio Hamlett crashed over for his second try of the afternoon. Bobby Finch then booted over yet another conversion to make it 31 - 0 at the break.
The Wids switched off at the start of the second half which allowed Garstang to score a really well worked try, but normal service was quickly resumed, as Tom Whitfield caught a poor clearing kick to race past his opposite number to score.
Garstang added another try midway through a very stop start second half, due to the worsening weather conditions, but that was as close as they would get, as Widnes added two more late tries through Kyle McGreevy, to make the final score 46 - 12.
MOM as voted for by Garstang was Bobby Finch.
